To anybody with an interest in old diesels, "Western" loco D1015 Western Champion is working a charter train from Salisbury to Lime Street tomorrow, arriving at Lime St at 1130 and departing at 1743. The train will be stabled at the carriage sidings at Edge Hill in between these times.

Although they visited Birkenhead Woodside in the 60s, this will be the first known visit of a "Western" to Liverpool.
well lets hope so, although I'm not optimistic...

We have been advised by the DTG, owners of D1015 "Western Champion", that the locomotive has been booked in for maintenance during the months of June & July and therefore will no longer be available for our tour.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that, that news article was published in February, and the loco has been given paths between Old Oak Common depot and Salisbury in the early hours of tomorrow morning and return on Tuesday.

cheers Robt, thanks for that .
so will it take the WCL in? Going on my rail atlas that seems to be the main route from that part of the world via Crewe.
will try and catch it before Lime St, so don't want to be stood at the wrong station

will delay having my bloods done so I can see that and try and catch an hour of the tall ships.
