Nice picture, GD - and the comment too.

Really chuffed to see that pic IZ, many thanks.
Only reminisced about those woods yesterday with Greg's Dad - see his pics
of the L&L at Aintree.
...
I second that comment, Paddy. And it's a very interesting post as well.

Hello again GD.
We used to take the no.20 tram to Aintree to get to the Canal in the 30's. Not
sure now whether we were near to it from the Terminus or whether we had
to walk on to the Old...
That's more like the Ferries I used to know - and one going to New Brighton
too!
Thanks for showing it, GD.

Thanks again, Shoney, for that contribution. I really laughed out loud.
As for most of the others, just...
You've done a really interesting and comprehensive set of Bootle pics there,
Ged. Many thanks.
Although living off Melrose Road, Kirkdale, which was only a stone's throw
away from Bootle, I can't...
Well, at least that one is being kept clean, neat and tidy. Still, however big
they make those 'wheelybins' it's amazing how we always manage to see
them full up to the top with late arrivals...
Thanks for the pics, Greg's Dad - as always something untoward and
interesting.
And even the alleyways are in the sunshine!
...
Many thanks, Scouse Smurf, for telling us about those pics - like others have said some photos are familiar but there are loads that I haven't seen before.A very useful post on your part, much...
Well said, Spike - the same thoughts went through my mind. Absolutely
shattering photos, Kev.
Just one quick comment - I could make a lot more. Compare the turnout and physique of the Indian...
Never set foot in the Lark Lane area when I was a lad in Liverpol but I've
thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. I'm fully aware that you can't hold
back the passage of time but sincerely hope...
That's a fab picture, Taffy - many thanks.
Stan H.
Thanks for that one, Kev - takes me back - almost 80 years I reckon. Doesn't
seem to have changed a bit - makes you think!

Loads of streets were 'setted' in Kirkdale in my time, Rumney Road for
example. How else could we have played 'carry the can' if we hadn't been
able to make the lines across the road?

Listening to a programme on Afghanistan the other day, I suddenly thought
of King Amanullah. Can anyone remember his visit to Liverpool in the 1930's
or ever heard mention of it? I think he made a...
That's a good'un Corky!

That pic of the grate brought some memories back, Joe,most of all your
mention of covering the hot oven shelves with old pieces of blanket to heat the beds in the winter. It was another world!
...
That's good news - get well soon, Brian!
Stan H.
Well said,Kev! I think quite a few folks viewing these pics are saying the same
thing. I think Joe must have already got one, judging by all the brilliant
photos we're getting. It's a wonderful...
Another nice sequence, Joe - I've been over that bridge a few times. And
you're still getting the sun to shine! Thanks again for putting all these
pleasant little interludes on the record. ...
Hello Ross - These are just the remnants of a whole complex - the name
'Close' says it all. The ones that used to be were really streets, some quite
long. Here are all those I can remember...
Well remembered with that comment, Ged. I immediately thought of the
same thing - but you beat me to it. Glad you did - I didn't know (or perhaps
I've forgotten) that they later confessed to the...
Hear, hear Norm!
Stan H.
That was a very interesting little post, Taffy and Chris. And just to think that
I spent my early years playing about in the Kirkdale Rec in total ignorance
of what had gone on there only 30/40...
