It's just a bit down the hill from the church (and on the same side). I just hope the letters don't stand for Water and Gas. I don't know its' age, but guess it's old.

It's definitely Wavertree and Garston. I believe the boundary ran down the middle of Rose Lane. A little further along down Rose Lane past Mossley Hill station going towards Mather Avenue, there's another boundary stone set in a wall on Rose Lane with the letters W and A separated by a vertical line. This shows the boundary between Allerton and Wavertree which again ran down the middle of Rose Lane. Looking towards Mather Ave, Allerton is on the right and Wavertree on the left. Makes a mockery of estate agents claiming that the shops on Allerton Rd and all surrounding houses must be in "Allerton".Quote:
