They're all so photogenic George?
No more red-eye!
No more exposure problems!
No more silly faces!
They're on to something?
Ha, but you never get your pictures mixed up.
Or forget a name... you can just make it up.
I dont find this picture offensive ,
here's why , I have seen many Muslim women in the lingre depratment , buying beautiful La Pearla , Janet Reager and other lovely items of femininity ..
In Harrods they flock to the perfume and cream counters same as any other woman , the make-up is impecable too , they are no less femine because they wear the Burkka , this picture can be viewed in different ways , i view it as celebration of woman !
Me too. I see it that individuality will out. Nice one Deb.
Maybe she's a Nun and the Catholics should be offended.
That's how ridiculous it is.
I remember all that kerfuffle about Muslim cartoons, the crazier newspapers in the Middle East have all sorts of cartoons in about the Western leaders. I wasn't offended, I thught they were funny. If they'd have asked I woulda given them some new ideas for them.
I responded to this hours ago but it seems to have got lost in the ether.
Pabs - totally agree, but I think Kev's rhetorical question in post 9 was his tactful why of suggesting we don't cause unnecessary offence. The best form of censorship is self censorship, thinking about how others may interpret what we say. However, that is a concept hard to follow when it is often a one-way street. We have to mind our language but others seem to have the right to say what they want, regardless of how offensive that may be.
I think the bottom line is that with free speech comes the responsibly to use it wisely. I know the theory but d a m n it is hard to follow at times!
Another one way street. I've seen pictures of Muslim demonstrators in London burning the Union Jack. It's a free country and we let them do it (I think it's a Federal offence in America to deface the Stars and Stripes). Just try jetting off to a Muslim country and burning their flag.
I guess what I'm saying is that we allow visitors and people who have settled here - maybe generations ago - the same free speech as we have, but do they use it responsibly? The answer has to be frequently no.
Starting to feel like I'm on a soap box now so I'm shutting up!
Looks like flag burning was once an offence but the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional as it was a form of free speech.

Ha, I know lotsa Muslims, Jews, blacks and Chinese. They know I aint got a racist bone in my body. I have the utmost respect for all religions.
But when we can't laugh, that's when we're in trouble.
What if she was a nun? She could well be...
