The buildings are still there. But both the Pier Master's office and the Victoria clock tower are badly in need of restoration and some loving care which they should get as they are important buildings architecturally. They may not get such restoration any time soon though simply because they are not in the city centre where their rehabilitation would be more of a priority. :(

hi and thank you for that information, im glad it has,nt been knocked down like everything else/ whats up with these councils this is part of our history it should be presserved. god it makes me angry. i,ll tell you what if i win the lottery i,ll pay for the restoration.

I think all the boats have now been removed from this dock to make way for the new canal route.

fantastic pics gerard. i have read up on peel holdings and there gonna refurbish the tower and salisbury dock,and apparantley there goingto build two lots of appartments either side of the tower.

hi gerard what a brilliant website, my family (orme ) are from burlington street no 88b, i used to love going there and playing out with all the kids from round about. i used to go ot with a lad from either gerard gardens or portland gardens in the early 80s.

Yes, that's Portland. Some great communities were born out of those squares, it's what created the Eldonian housing co-operative and village which is thriving.
