Leeds to Liverpool Canal
£1m rescue for derelict city canal
Oct 25 2007 by Nick Coligan, Liverpool Echo
MORE than £1m will be spent transforming a rundown stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool canal.
The money will be used to upgrade the neglected area between the Eldonian village, in Vauxhall, and Bootle’s Bedford Road. more

I was under the impression the 'British Waterways' owned the canal.
If this is true I have not seen the name mentioned.

There's a part of it either side of Bankhall st, just to the West of Brasenose road which has a green surface and has no doubt had factory and warehouse effluence and/or rubbish dumped in it in the past. It has to be cleared if the new passageway across the three graces frontage is to be realised.

The canal's 21st Century start point, some few hundred yards up from its original beginnings. This viewed from the back of the Eldonian village hall.
