New Brighton Palace Fair.. underground munitions factory...
Mon 27th Feb 2012.
During the war the underground tunnels underneath New Brighton Palace were used as a munitions factory.
a social club was installed for the women workers at the factory in 1942..
the social club was New Brighton's legendary 'Creep Inn' night club in later years..
The photo below was taken in one of the munition factory tunnels under todays New Brighton indoor fair..
it shows machinery used for making 20mm shells at the munitions factory...
More of these photos around the tunnels..what was the social club/Creep Inn..
old ghost train, will be on my website below soon.
on a dedicated gallery about New Brighton, showing new and old New Brighton photos...
Thanks...
Gerard..

Liverpool's north dockland was my playground as a kid being born next to the Stanley Warehouses..
its now my playground as a photographer.. and its a place I can not get enough of.
seeing the photos when taking them on the tiny camera screen is one thing...
seeing them turn out like below blows me away...
the beauty of my birthplace never fails to take my breath away.. ever...
you just can not beat getting out there doing it yourself.. and I love doing it myself...
Liverpool's north dockland..
An unusual view from the Mersey edge of the entrance to the filled in Waterloo Dock area..

Keep a look on my site below John.. its been getting some serious neglect.
that's all about to change, its about time I got it back up the top of the google rankings..
where my old site was in the top 2 or 3 constantly for the last 4 years...
I've been dead busy of late with this that and the other...here there and everywhere..
Jobs done... time for a bit of me time on my own website....
I've just been given a load of old photos, that's about 600/700 for starters, maybe more..
Old Liverpool ones, like below.... I hope you like them mate...
I'll still post here, I'll pop in with updates about my site..
I just have to get the Liverpool Days show well and truly back on the road..
Its about time I got my Liverpool vids online and stopped f'n about..
I think I'll kick off with the dockers clock interior vid.. deffo, soon..

At least she's farting away from the old guy - a touch of class that.
Great pictures again.
Kinda guessed she wasn't farting, Gerard. Just having a little fun.
;-)
No probs Kev mate, I know you never meant anything like that Kev..:PDT11
I just thought I'd nip that 'fart' thought in the bud, you know what some people are like mate... give them any reason to have a go at Liverpool ?.
New Brighton....
This entrance to the indoor fair hasn't changed much in 50 years....

Liverpools Dockland.. again.. Friday 2nd March 2012..2pm
straight off the press.. !..
So I'm back today on me stompin' ground..
yer know, f' posterity like....
I do me 2 hour wander and I head back the car..
I spy a group of photographers on the Bascule Bridge taking pics of the Stanley Warehouses..
So I introduce myself as a 'Liverpool photographic historian'....
ehhhhhhh, cool or what..I'll have some of that larrrrr...
A group of Warrington lads, nice lads...
after giving them the history of the Stanley Warehouses,
pointing here and there etc showing them where unusual things took place..
I gave them my card about to get off and one of them says.....
"Are you the Gerard Fleming who had the exhibition, I went, it was very good.."
Thank you very much Sir I said... shows yer eh ?... gear innit..!!!...fame at last...
Back to the photo below....
the reason this area is now under heavy security is because a gang of idiots got too close
to the new canal link and one of them fell in... major emergency services call out..
I wonder who the soft pillock was...?... ha haaaaa.... lol...
For posterity.... before its all done up and whatever....
(Tomorrows LRO pics... today...)
(I'm only kiddin' about the historian bit, I've got sunstroke I think and am in a act soft mood...)

Hi Gerrard
Your picture of the Waterloo dock gates remind me of a day not long after 9/11 when security got tighter down on the docks. My brother and I used to fish off that wall into the Mersey.I would arrive by bike from Kirkby and he would meet me there by car.
One night he left a bit early and by the time I left they had closed the dock gate so I was locked in.
The only way out was to carry my bike and with one hand swing around the railings to the half tide Princes dock,as the tide was out there was a 40 foot drop if I had fallen.
