1970s Liverpool
I knew I had some pictures of the sailors home being demolished - I found them tonight whilst looking for something else.
I've also included the other pictures from the same reel of film - I reckon it was the first winter I was in Liverpool, which would be 1970.
Canning Street - note the crane still on the Cathedral. The white house below the crane in the picture is where my girlfriend lived.

This shows the middle section of Canning Street, still with the Apostolic Church intact:

Catharine Street/Canning Street junction - the white house where my girlfriend lived.

Falkner Square - Huskisson Street side (I think)?

Huskisson Street. This house was used as residential accommodation for staff from "The Blackie" and I had to do some temporary wiring in there before they could move in as the vandals had been in and nicked all the cables.

This is the Sailors' Home being demolished, showing the interior framework.

I agree, great images from times and places I remember well.
I wonder if I could have your permission to reproduce the sailor's home demolition pics on my own sailor's home page? (with full credit of course)

Fantastic pictures. Falkner Square has hardly changed!

I was in school Liverpool girls college on Grove Street at this time, and rememeber the area well, we walked to our "school church" which was the Anglican cathedral (not many can say this was their school church I bet !), and our swimming baths was the university baths.
There were some amazing looking buildings in the area but sadly one after the other was pulled down !, and my old school followed after I left.
Your photos are a great reminder !.
