Nova Scotia - liverpool
The old Nova Scotia district that no longer exists. It was around the Chester basin and Manchester Dock, which were between the Pier Head and Canning Dock/Albert Dock. The two docks were not a part of the interconnected Dock system only accessible from the river. The whole district was built ion reclaimed land. People lived there.

Nova Scotia ca be recreated. quite easily. To those who think that obliterating our water spaces is "progress" - Liverpool can easily create this sort of environment. First you need water which Liverpool has. Without water we end up with a boring non-entity anytown which you might find in Surrey....or a waste processing site on a world heritage site zone.

Nova Scotia. From the Lumiere film of 1897 taken from the Overhead railway. George's Dock can be seen bottom right. This shows Mann Island with James St to the left.

Below: Immediately to the left of the row of buildings above. The brick structure is the Merseyrail vent shaft for the river tunnel, which is still there.

The vent shaft is seen here:

We lost a lot. We can re-recreate that in another form in different parts of the water spaces.
