CHIPPYS
Which one's your local.
None of these are mine but have had a lovely special fried rice from Yan in the two flowers on Stanley Road, Kirkdale - all the usual swimming in barbecue sauce and topped with a fried egg.

The Lung Fung mightn't sound too apertising but this establishment in Melrose Road serves a mean Chicken Green Pepper in blackbean sauce half n' half.

Happy Seasons. obviously not a Newcastle United fan then. This one's on Stanley Road further north.

Love the thread Ged, come on folks, post your local Chippies!

Two on vauxhall road. Marybone chippy is situated in the student block so probably does good custom.

Jimmy's was my local when we lived off Burly. He must have been there around 20 years now.

I think the trade name is great witty and imaginative, looks quality too.

The Stanley chippy in Geds pics, the whole building was once a Chinese laundry. The ground windows were always left wide open and you could watch them using big industrial steam irons to iron the washed clothes with plenty of steam coming out of the windows.

A Salt and Battery is owned by a London couple, Nicki and Sean. They have a British grocers and a gift shop as well as the chippy down in Greenwich Village, all in a row with an English black taxi outside. They now deliver an entire tea party to your home. You can order watercress, cheese, salmon sarnies, scones with clotted cream and strawberries, trifle and all the British goodies you can think of for high tea. They do full British Sunday lunch too (with Bisto gravy!)
They are great and go out of their way for British charities. We had a 'pub quiz' at their chippy and they joined the wait staff in taking care of us. They gave us red white and blue beads as we arrived, free fried Mars bars too, yuk, lol All of the staff in the three stores are British, mostly lads and lasses in their gap year from uni. They all pitch in, if one shop is busy the others from the other two run in and they take turns at delivering the food on motor bikes!
