here is the Stanley Park clock
George, that 2nd picture - County rd - I can't recognise at all, yet I know County rd well. I can't make out where the road and pavement curves around like where the people are walking.
Could do with a then & now comparison.
edit.
false alarm :) I think I can make it out now. I've recognised that turret over by Arnot st ! :)
I couldn't make out which direction we were looking from.
Then you don't know county road well enough then :-) County DIY you know the road at the traffic lights, see the stone bus stop? well thats where Tesco's(AkA Sommerfields) is,the clock hanging on the wall is the funeral parlour.Quote:

yes, I know now :) opposite the library.
Is that Hale Road off to the right?
Lol,well the sign says Manchester so therefore the pic musta been taken towards walton road way. :)Quote:

When looking at old pics observe specific landmarks that you might recognise that are still evident today
StAnne Street...
And again at the Islington end, funny that never seen pics of Islington itself...anywhere?
Everton Valley before the old houses got demolished,my doctors was here on the coner...waiting room was in the cellar.
Good pic's George.....where are you getting them all from?????
Shaw Street 1950's
Heyworth Street School 1967
Ok lets get this one sorted out here, below is a pic ofEverton Brow and I have seen many a pic depicting the park and Brow side saying its Everton Brow...IT IS NOT EVERTON BROW...its Brow Side.
Everton Brow ran from Shaw street(opposite side of BrowSide)right down to Richmond Row....
And here it is....
EWS tanks and Islington on my site. Pfft - not seen them anywhere. The lone walker is walking down Seacombe street towards the shops on Great Homer Street, the tower of Schofield's lemonade factory on Dalrymple street on the right, the shops on Scottie in the distance - no mystery even though the photographer, Bernard Fallon has it as otherwise ;)
Pic in post 43 belongs to Sirob, most of the rest (if not all) are LRO.
Sure its notPince Edwin Street,Ged?
Never the less the point was that anything the other side of Shaw Street is shaw steet park or brow side and is not Everton Brow.
The street view pic is Everton Brow, the second pic is not Everton Brow its Brow Side and the park is Shaw Street Park.

Where's this one?
I'm talking Soho street aea,Ged ie bottom of Stafford Street.Quote:
Islington on my site. Pfft
I used to work in Edmondson(Full swing lemonade) and got off the bus on london road a nd walked down stafford street and right down Soho Street to get to the place of work from the back entrance ie Birkette Street.
Anyway for the life of me cannot remember what was on Islington in that area and the only buildings that spring to mind is the four squares(Gardens) on or near Soho Street.
Hhaha, just spotted a fully wagon on Soho St in the clip.

Positive.

Great pics though. Keep em' coming. :)
This picture is not Everton Brow, I think it is further along Netherfield Rd going towards the Valley. You could be looking down towards Great Homer St, The tower on the right of the Street opposite looks like Schofields Lemonade Factory.
Sorry Ged! I have just noticed your post below this one, I have just repeated What you have said.
Not quite true George, Browside was the section of road that ran from Netherfield Rd at Anne Fowlers up towards Rupert Lane and the intersection of Everton Terrace. The steps along side the lockup are also called Browside on earlier pictures. The second picture is also Everton Brow, look at earlier maps of Everton. The little park is not Shaw St that is further along (see your own photographs).
