I really like this thread.
I have just been up Smithdown Road, facing Mustard Bar (Holyoake Hall) and spotted this great 'art' on a cable box.

I also saw this one of Lennon on the wall leading to the penny lane retail park thingy..

Please excuse my pics, they are only taken on my phone!

Not quite art
There's a certain irony about this graffitied sign in the Dingle and its underlying words
-
I have always liked this art, and have often thought that I'd like to get a 'graffiti' artist to do a piece of work at my home. Perhaps on a wall in the back garden or on a wall inside the house.
I suppose it would be quite hard to find someone to do such a piece of work, unless of course you knew someone personally.
It's a great form of art, which I love, when it's not done somewhere it will cause annoyance.

Two art students who went on a two-year graffiti spree in Liverpool have been spared prison.
Ian Town, 24, and 23-year-old Charlotte Backhouse, both from South Drive, West Derby, admitted 26 charges of damaging property at Liverpool Crown Court.
The couple are believed to have caused damage estimated at about £65,000.
Both were given nine month sentences which were suspended for two years after their university lecturer gave them glowing testimonies.
John Young, a senior lecturer in graphic art at Liverpool John Moores University, said he believed the pair had ceased criminal behaviour by the time of their arrest in 2006. more...
Has anyone snapped the pair's work? I've seen it all over Liverpool:

I wish they'd gone down for it. They've done a few nice pieces but a majority of their stuff is simply obnoxious tagging.

Speke Graffiti
Words of Hope. I think they refer to the shopping precinct which like many others in Liverpool deteriorated badly with the advent of the large Supermarkets. These central parade shops are due for demolition to be replaced by a new shopping centre ironically based aroud yet another supermarket.

I love graffiti art thats done well, rather than random tags, theres even magazines like graphitism now which goes to show its taken more seriously. I go to a studio space in parr street, used to love seeing the changes on the jump ship rat walls, its now a greek restaurant. Does anyone have photos from that?
