Bridge St in Litherland
Excellent pic, GD. Did ya take the sausage works wall pic too ?
I will never forget the illuminated pig carrying a sausage on a fork. It meant you were getting closer to home.:034:
Oh Smurf it was an Icon to the people of Liverpool everyone knew it. We would all stand up in our seats on the coach coming home from Christmas parties in the dark Liverpool night air. Then as we passed there would be a gasp and utterings of general approval that Liverpool had such a remarkable landmark. The little pig was always smiling and in no way was he scary, why oh why was he removed :PDT_Xtremez_42:
You must remember Smurf people lose interest! In those days Pinky and Perky were big. It was before the Beatles and the duo did alot of cover versions. When the Beatles took hold alot of kids stopped listening to Pinky and Perky. I remember the lift Bridge if you went to Netherton you went over it. I think I can recall it lifted a few times. There was a path called the cinder path that led to Bootle. We sometimes bought nets and went along the canal. A jar of tiddlers would be the haul but the days went on forever.:)
