I only remember the restaraunt called the 'Kohi Noor' ( don't know how to spell it)
1968 Kelly's directory:
3. Court House.
6. Hare & Hounds.
13. County Hotel.
Wasn't Tom Pepper's on the corner?
I remember the Legs of Man but that was next to the Empire.
This might be a bit before your time.

Hiya wsteve55, Philip of course has these 3 correct. The County Hotel was always known as Peppers and later changed it name to that.
The Burtons building on the corner with London road became the John Lennon bar in the 1990s too - resulting in there being 4 pubs then on Commutation Row, though the entrance may have been on London Road.
They can all be found on my website mentioned below.
Thanks all,
I think it was, the "Hare and Hounds" I was looking for!(couldn't find any pic's on your site Ged?)
Steve.
Page 1 - the whole block of the old Commutation row is there.
The Court House was a great little pub, real ale and friendly staff. I was sad when it went.
My old next door neighbour, Dominic had it.
Anyone remember the name or have a picture of the magnificently tiled pub
at Everton Valley. It was opposite the large post office. It was a Walkers
Warrington pub. There was a Threlfall`s pub on the same block.

Was it the Derby Arms ?
This map is from 1955.

See you,

Thanks Tony, my memory was wrong as the map shows the Threfall`s pub wasn`t on the same block it`s on the next block called the Black Bull.
The Derby Arms was a lovely reddish coloured tiled building with those concertina gates on the main entrance.
