UFO sighting in Liverpool Jan 7th 2009 at 4.30pm

Did anyone else see a possible UFO sighting in Liverpool today (Jan 7th 2009 at 4.30pm). I took the following photo of what looked like a missile or rocket? rising from the skyline in Liverpool. I was stood near Catharine Street and the object appeared to be rising from near the Albert Dock direction. As I spotted it, there was also a trail of what seemed to be another object that was traveling in the opposite direction, towards the ground. The object I captured on camera (my iPhone) continued to rise and then changed direction completely and started to move towards the Anglican Cathedral area and beyond very quickly. I went back home to get my video camera and captured about 10 seconds by which time it was moving away even further and I stopped filming. I have never seen anything like this before and wondered what it could be.

There's no such things as alien beings. UFO's maybe until they are properly identified as chinese lanterns or some other mundane object.

They did land once, behind Speke baths but someone stole a handle of the saucer door :ninja: and their not coming back. Not even for a big clock :PDT_Xtremez_12:

Funny enough my wife and i where just leaving the womens hospital around that time. We did not see your UFO but we did notice there was a lot of high altitude aircraft in the air that afternoon. My wife comented that she had never seen so many vapor trails at once.

Thanks Danny. That's interesting. I never saw an aircraft take off at this this trajectory before which is why I initially thought it was unusual. Then when I saw a trail of what looked like something heading to the ground it looked even more strange.

I have also only just noticed that the other downward trail can be see in the trees on the image. Both of these were moving very fast.

Hi Digital Peace. Sorry to say that i don't think it is a UFO, it is however an illusion created by the aircraft flying high in the atmosphere coming over the curvature of the earth directly in-line with Liverpool. I've seen this before when i was a teenager and was explained to me by a then pilot in training.

Looks a lot like a plane vapour trail to me too, it's all about the atmopheric conditions where sometimes you can see lots of these criss crossing at different altitudes and angles giving the impression they are vertical when in fact they're not.

yes although i never said anything in my last post my wife did point out that one of them had a strange trajectory. The other thing i find strange is todays news. so soon after your sighting. I do believe in UFOs but not aliens.

Well its a U.F.O to me coz I dunno what it is (A bird ? A plane ?...) ?

Hey Danny. What did you mean by todays news being strange?

Take a look at this photo taken by a friend some time ago, he has only shown it to a few people, he thought people would think him a fool.

Seriously! bout time i told you this.....
Christmas day about 17.15 i went into the back garden and saw this

To me it looked like a ball of light travelling towards me, as it went out of sight behind the rooftops it changed direction and went away at 90 degrees and slowly rose in the sky until fading away in the distance. This happened not once but was repeated about 6 times (exactly the same)
I did a lot of searching and finally came to the conclusion that what i saw could have been "chinese lanterns" but this pic

seems to show an aircraft.
Now i know that when secret aircraft are flown from warton they light up the fuselage to make it look like an ordinary aircraft, but i find it unlikely that there would be manovers on a christmas day afternoon. also the first pic is how it looked coming towards me and also going away! I did take about 30 photos but..... a light in the night sky and a shakey camera proves nothing.

My first intention was to just remove the lamppost to make the building more presentable. I just could not resist it when I reached the top of the lamp.

Im very skeptical one it comes to these kind of things as 99.8 % do have a logical answer, so one time sticks in my head alot.

Going back about 13 years in Birkenhead i was waiting for my Dad to finish work around midnight after being at my brothers house nearby. There was a comet about which you could see in the sky and actually follow it. So we did and then arriving home my Dad and I both went into the back garden to look for the comet again. Instead what i saw i still have no explanation for and which i can only think of some kind of Ufo. Whether there is logic behind it i dont know.

There was two clear red dots high in the sky. Very sharp and bright. Nearest i can describe them is over a laser pen or the red target from a sniper rifle. Anyways, these red dots where moving about the sky in the same area very irratically. Moving very close together as if nearly touching each other to moving away from each other very fast indeed. No aircraft as i know could do what they were doing. Then all of a sudden they come together and in a perfect straight line and same distance from each other shot off across the sky and disappeared.

I still wonder what they were and doubt i will ever find out.
