If this is the same statue that Colin Wilkinson was saying on his blog about Strand Street that he was afraid might turn out to be an unsightly modern sculpture it would seem that his fears are groundless. I like it.

I know there were a lot of Carters in the Vauxhall area/Dock Road haulier firms and Ron Formby battled and always highlighted the Carters (as many of the oldies would call into his office)

The Palanzana stone by Stephen Cox to commerate the Garden Festival in 1984.
The name comes from the quarry in Italy the stone came from. It was resited on Byrom St in 1998
