There's so much stained glass around.
Churches, pubs, shops, houses etc.
And it's so easy to photograph.
Just put the camera on Auto and make sure the flash is off.

All the original windows - as well as the body of the church itself - were destroyed in the war.
So this window is post-war.

Great pics so far.
Interesting thread indeed, Philip. Thanks for starting it.
This is the stained glass lighting the staircase in Battlecrease House, 7 Riversdale Road, Aigburth. The house was once the home of James and Florence Maybrick of notorious fame.

Image of St Paul at St Peter's Church of England Church, Woolton, Liverpool
Beautiful shot, Taffy.
Apart from the Cathedrals and St Nicholas, which other churches are open during the week?
I was inside Walton Church on Saturday (a community open day), so will post some pics later.
St. Joseph's, Grosvenor St.
SFX, Salisbury st.
St. Mary of the Angels, Fox st.
Thanks for the kind comment.
Apart from service times, unfortunately most churches are locked during the week. So its best to enquire at each church as to their mid week servivce times. Some of the best stained glass in Liverpool is by the 19th C pre-Raphaelite artist Burne Jones. Good examples are at Ullet Rd Unitarian church and All Hallows Allerton. The latter church is open to the public for general viewing on Tuesdays 2-4pm. Not sure about Ullet Rd Church

There's some excellent 19th C stained glass at St Margaret's Prince's Rd Toxteth but the main east window is a post WW2 replacement. The windows reflect the wealth of its late 19th C congregation. This is open for a service 10 am Wednesday and usually all Friday afternoon.

St Agnes Ullet Rd has some interesting late 19th and early 20th c stained glass. Check with the church of their opening times. Their web site is somewhat out of date.

St Barnabas Penny Lane has some interesting early 20th C stained glass including a magnificient east Window. This church is open Tuesdays 10.30 am to Midday as well as Thursday 10 am to 11.30. The latter is a service time.

All Saints Childwall is usually open from 2.30 pm on Sundays for general visitors and has a service at 10.30 on Thursdays. Stained galss is mainly mid to late 19th C.

Their web site says they're open on Thursday and Friday aftrenoons. I don't think this is the case anymore. Do check.

Thanks for the information, Taffy.
What would be the reaction if I went to a mid-week service (or even a service on Sunday) and afterwards asked to take photos of a church's stained glass?
I've just bent the rules of the flickr group "Old Liverpool" to include stained glass, and would love to have your beautiful photos included.
See link below.
I am continuing to enjoy the images of the stained glass in this thread. Good work, everyone. :handclap:
Chris
Sudley House has just been reopened after about a year's closure for renovations etc. This photo is of the stained glass in the entrance porch. Sadly it's been slightly damaged by stone throwing.
Portion of Great East WW1 War Memorial Window designed by Liverpool stained glass artist H G Hiller.
Those photos are brilliant, Ive always wanted to go to the Church in Everton, think i will now, after seeing the stained glass windows.
Debbie,
I assume you mean St George at the top of the Everton escarpment. It's a delightful old church. A lot of the stained glass was destroyed by WW2 bombing but there are some survivals. The main large east window is a 1950s replacement. Here are a couple general shots I took a few years ago.
Thank you for sharing those excellent pictures.
