Great images Gerard, love the old/new fun fair, the old, old outdoor fair was my stomping ground when i was a kid, loved going on the chair lift to the top of the tower ballroom, using the motorboats (top speed 4MPH and thats downhill:PDT_Piratz_26: ).
Great Photos Gerard, lovely blue skies ,you picked a good day to go :handclap::handclap::handclap:
Excelent, takes me back a while used to go to New Brighton a lot.
The good old days with the donkeys on the beach, the swimming pool
and 1000,s of people on holiday, shame it is nearly all gone now.
BTW are you changing your avatar to the new camera ?
phew ! ... I feel like I've been on a day out :) :)
I like all those shots of everyday things like eating ice cream, the courting couple, the kids and the dogs having a great time :) the red and blue buckets and spades, the golf.
very nice Gerard. :handclap:
Thank you everyone :handclap:
Im made up :):) you enjoyed the pics and they brought back fond memories for you..Thanks again folks.
Ste...I've tried changing the Avatar a few times Lad to something other than a Camera lately but its not having it..
Just wont work...
Nice pics Gerard you picked the right day for it :) last time i was there was at a kite festaful a few years ago ended up spending £500 on a kite:eek:
Great pics Gerard. Nice little tour of New Brighton that. I like the ones you took in Wilkie's.
Loved all the pics Gerard! And good to see New Brighton looking so well! My wife and I spent a lot of time there back in the mid 50s, so brings back lots of good memories. I wonder if the 'Spanish Bar' in the lower floor of the 'Grand Hotel' is still in existence?:PDT_Aliboronz_24: Cheers!
The Grand was demolished last year. There have been plans in to develop residential property on this site but, as far as I know, they have not been approved.
Manwhile, the former Chelsea Reach (at the bottom of Victoria Road) has been converted into apartments known as the 'Chelsea Plaza' and these are now available to let.
Thank you chaps..Glad you like em fella's.
Hers a few more..I dont know why I never took more of this area..
Propably because Ive got more somewhere..

Wow! Someones been busy! Goodness me! I just don't know where to start really. Just well done! Never seen New Brighton looking so good!
The image above of the crane and the tower grounds is something to do with the Water Board I think; theres a massive round hole behind those railings. Might be a bottomless pit: New Brighton's latest attraction!
Keep up the good work!
Thank you wallasey :PDT11
Well done Gerard, great pics, did you catch any crabs?
Wonderful pics, Gerard! That sea was really tearing away off Fort Perch Rock!
Chris
Could the large hole have anything to do with the old Ghost Train that ran underground for a short distance at about that point?
I have a nice article off the train.
Can anyone remember this>> It was on the front of the train. I have had it for quite a few years and goes with me to every VW rally I attend.
NO = The other head is that of the wife :)
Gerard, it's good the way you feature people in the photos, it adds more interest - and especially as they are always smiling and looking pleased that they are having their picture taken. They are cheerful images that make you smile just looking at them. :)
Lovely pici's
nothing like a day at the seaside
lovely bright colours too
it will be interesting to see what happens regarding New Brightons proposed developments?
kat
