Liverpool's fishing past
found out that Great, great grandad was a fisherman is there any information about the fishing industry in liverpool and how i could find out if he worked on certain boats etc..... any help greatly appreciated am now to all this and have got as far as i think i can

Liverpool fishing industry was probably ended with the sale to Milford of the last 3 trawlers Celtia, Goosander,and Gallinule in 1939.
Then on it was only small boat owners who made a living catching and selling the fish.
The last full time fisherman,from the Mersey was my brother John seen here mending his nets on the "Cocklehole" slipway in the 1960`s, with his boat the Comrade just below him

Thanks greg's dad for the info etc...... do you have any info or direction i can follow to find out if he was assigned to what boat etc...... it was around 1880-91
