Think that's the "Scala" cinema.

See the fella in the doorway....bloody hell, I knew I shouldn't have that curry last night.
The numbers 3 and 6 on the post are where the doors are in your photo,
Save the pic, brighten it up in an art prog then zoom in.
The iron work at the top of the wrought iron gate was architectural iron work as I recollect but deffo there in the 60's/70's
Poor replication what I did here....
The picture that George supplied showed bomb damage to both of the cinemas.
The Futurist on the left, and the Scala on the right.
It looked worse than it was.
The pediment on the top of the Futurist was rebuilt, and all decoration on the front of the Scala was shaved off.
Presumably it was at that time that the windows to the left of the Mystery Building had their decoration shaved off.
Yes, there were shops either side of the entrance to the Futurist.
The one on the left was extended to become a Milk Bar.
It was last used as an amusement arcade.
George.
There will probably be holes if there was some sort of gate, but I don't know what it will prove even if there was one.
I'm wondering if it might have been some sort of emergency exit from The Vines.
I'm definitely going to call in there, this week!
Any excuse eh :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
(In conversation with the barmaid during the 8th pint)............
'So...< hic> what's that building next <hic> door all about then luv <hic>'
'Sorry, which building again?'
'Eh <hic> You talking to me <hic> What did I say <hic> again luv <hic> Arr come here darlin' <hic> :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
One thing that did surprise me was when I went down to the cellar system, it seemed far bigger than the footprint of the building.
Is that what you call 'Under' Investigation?
I think you are right about the gates George! I seem to remember gates with a load of rubbish building up behind them.
Maybe they removed the gates to keep it clear, in case of fire?
Maybe the entranceway was just for upstairs access?
