THE REAL GHOST BUSTIN DEAL:celb (6):
I think he writes about ghosts, he doesn't go round with a gun and trap and catch them.
Are you aware
of your computer keyboard's 'Caps Lock' key? Makes all the difference...
Here's his website.
http://www.slemen.com/
Sorry
Snapple, Only had one hand on keyboard, hope thats better:celb (6):
he has also got a myspace page
www.myspace.com/tomslemen
Is he still a Time Traveller? I recall him one night on the Pete Price show telling folk he time travells
Mind you, that's not half as bad as his friend and researcher John Magin Kennedy claiming to have killed a Vampire back in 1989, and where did he kill the Vampire???? 'Preston' (Source JMK Website)
:celb (23):
I've gone off him somewhat, the early books were excellent but the stories now are clutching at straws even more. Same goes for his Merseymart column, the other week it was a giant cat that told two lads to stay out of some woods near Speke.
The talking cat of Speke is an old legend in speke and halewood. I heard it years ago in the seventies. Cats have been known as 'familiars' i.e. attendant demons of witches.
As for John Magin Kennedy - I asked him once if he believed anyone had left his grave and drank blood, and he said, 'They based a whole religion on one. His name was Jesus.'
I thought that was a bit out of order though, but, s'pose he has a point lol.
i have actually invited tom to join this forum...lets see if it happens!
Hi MissInformed
If Tom does join the forum I would like him to explain why his story The Valentine Ghost said to have occurred on the iron bridge in Sefton Park, featuring the lovers named William Robert D'Onston and Alice Harwood, appears to be a direct borrowing of the story of the Ripper suspect Robert D. Stephenson otherwise known as Roslyn D'Onston who related a very similar story that took place not in Sefton Park but in Hull.

Hi Chazza and welcome to the site, many thanks for signing up, enjoy :)
Tom has indeed supported us in the past, he signed up to the forum when it was in its previous 'guise although he's pushed for time and very busy, as I'm sure you all know. Maybe he'll join us again, we've moved on so much since his last visit.
yeah, he is my cousin.
I hope he re-joins :)
Someone asked that same question on Casebooks forum.

I know Tom from years back. very hard working bloke who has done well for himself.
here here :)
Ah, you have to watch out for that bugger. He likes to attach things to your aura and then hand you his card canonising himself as a "demonologist, expert in exorcism and vampirism" so you run to him to remove what he placed there in the first instance. The man is a self-agrandising control freak with a moderate level of occult knowledge. And everyone knows what they say about a little knowledge being a dangerous thing! He's not a bad feller, so far as I can tell, just very fond of his public image. Very willing to help, so long as he's cast in a positive light and it's worth his while. If not, you don't see him for dust...
My mate knows Kennedy and assures he's the real deal and apparently he doesn't do all that no more when he last saw Kennedy saying he found it draining.
Don't think he can be that fond of public image he's not as known as Slemen and when Pricey done some Halloween special he didn't seem like he cared when Pete was asking him what if a vampire listens to this and comes after you and said there welcome to try.
Can't believe Pricey tried and Ouija board and he's a skeptic!
I know Kennedy too. I can assure you I don't doubt he has abilities! I also don't doubt he's done good work in the past, but he's strayed off his path and is in danger of getting lost in the woods. He strikes me as somebody who's suddenly realised his moral compass is spinning the wrong way and is having trouble moving the needle back to north. The last time he did any workings he did get ill, which would tally with what your friend said.
He likes to cultivate a certain 'venerable elder' image amongst Liverpool's occult and Pagan community, but that doesn't stand up to close scrutiny, I'm afraid! That's what I meant by public image, rather than the public as a whole. I should have explained myself better, sorry.

Hi All
I really don't know Tom Slemen and perhaps I shouldn't comment on his work on the supernatural, although I came across this statement about another couple of older writers on the occult which might have some bearing on Mr. Slemen's work: ‘Like Elliot O’Donnell, Thurston Hopkins was fascinated by “true” ghost stories, and it is not always easy to distinguish between his “true” stories and his fiction.’ (Entry on R. Thurston Hopkins in the Supernatural Fiction Database)
Chris
Ive read afew of the Haunted Liverpool books, and his articles in the merseymart, theyre very interesting.:)
they are very good books, but I wish he would include bibliographies and sources...
If he ever put a date in anything he has written so it could be verified or researched it would assure me for once that his articles were not works of fiction.
sLemon has provided me with another rib ticker of a story in the latest Merseymart - mass sightings of a UFO in the Edge Hill district with people 'from the bullring' in town having extensive knowledge of what happened on that night.
Having researched Edge Hill's history in general and spoke to numerous amount of people having lived their all their lives, I've never once come across this 'recent' story. Ged, perhaps you have a photo of this from the Bullring? :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
Personally, I'd love for someone to come up and produce a book on the facts of Liverpool's Ghosts and spookies. Obviously not photographs of them as that's asking a bit much, but slemon seems to know exactly what he was eating for breakfast 30 years ago when a ghost walked through his wall yet cannot recall exactly where his house once stood.
Give me a story on a ghost and produce written reports by the person who saw it and then I'll give him some credit.
I was just wondering Cadfael if that silly rib tickler of a spooky story had something to do with the connection I told about ufos and mass hysteria in our school and all schools judging by the turn out one night after school in the Wavertree area. At the time I didn,t know Liverpool that well so I could have been anywhere, but I fancied we, and hundreds of other kids were around the Edge Hill Station area. The story was widespread in schools looking at the kids who turned up, and from what I recollect, there must have been police around as we were a fair distance from the bombed out building that the Martians had supposed to have landed in. I would have thought that there must have been a piece in the Echo at the time, or we were just silly schoolkids having a laugh!!!?
I do remember it though.:ninja:
I have a vague memory of some school kids' hysteria about a UFO - it must have been roughly about mid 1960s ?? I can't recall what happened over that - but news must have reached our school and we were all talking about it and looking up into the sky !! Ha! I can't remember anything about the Edge Hill district.
was it the leprechauns in botanic park that you where all chasing :)
Slemen is a lemon :PDT_Piratz_26:
Brother Cad and all.....
Now this may sound far fetched but........
As I was stepping out of the bath last night, there on the floor, open at the very precise page was a photo in my album that i'd not previously noticed, I mean, why would it be there, on the floor in the bathroom.
More weirdly (is that a word?) why would it be on the floor in the bathroom of my uncles sister-in-laws, whose bathroom it was???
It sent my mind racing and then it all came together...
A woman whose first name was Mary later gave birth to a being that was neither a boy or a girl - known as a goy or was it a birl? Mill Road never had the records according to her partner MrX but I believe that Rushworth and Draper had records during the same period.
I'm sorry not to have ever mentioned this previously but you may have thought I was MAD!
your picture is proof for sure Ged
See Lemon was roght all along
My dad lived In the bullring when he was a kid and Is from there and would probably think that story was crap.
He was a bouncer for the original Cavern too and told me his Devil at In Cavern story was a lie as well.
Tommy also told one about a snake type serpent that used to hang around the bin chute in Gerard Gardens, the only thing is - none of the 400 families who lived there had heard of it
I'm sorry not to have ever mentioned this previously but you may have thought I was MAD!
Or on very heavy drugs Ged, :unibrow:
you weirdos are all taking the p***:PDT_Piratz_26:
