A random survey it would appear to be Jones, just went to 118.com and input Smith and Jones for 3 different L postcodes (L13 L16 L25) - Jones was clearly the most popular in each one
Hiya Everyone
I havn't got a single Smith or Jones in my tree . At least it's made searching for ancestors that bit easier .
Karen
Those Jones's get everywhere!! It's hard keeping-up with them!!!!!:PDT_Xtremez_12:
:) I too have Jones on my fathers side of the family.
I'm surprised people In Liverpool find my surname hard to pronounce!
Isn't Molyneux supposed to be a well known Liverpool surname?
I've got Burns and Dugans In my tree but dunno any of them.
There were loads of Jones' in Gerard Gardens when I lived there and 3 with the christian name George in fact. I still know a few and would have gone along with that.
I thought Kidda , Mate or Lah would be big here :)
There's one off Shiel Road but although a well known family of Liverpool old, I don't think there are that many Molyneux around now.
ps. According to my A-Z there are 12 Molyneux thoroughfares whether they be Ave, Clo, Ct, Dr, Rd, way etc but no street.
Max how come people find it hard to pronounce your name?
You pronounce it "Molly knew" don,t you?
Mandy I,m afraid the Jones, have infiltrated our family too. When I was working in Button Street back in the 60s I had a mate called Eric Jones and in my last job in Drury Lane I had another pal called Eric Jones 25 years apart. Don,t know if they were related or not but they weren,t Welsh but broad Scouse.
my aunty's husband is known as Eric although his name is George
and my bezzie mate's bro in law is Eric Jones.
Wonder what the most unusual Surname is in Liverpool ?
Caterina.:)
No, not him Lindylou though he probably wishes he was ;)
No Smiths or Jones in my family tree, but there was an Elizabeth Taylor in the 1700s.
Any "famous" names in other people's families?
I've got loads of George Foremans & a Maria Callas
My dad and Brother. Joe Fagan. As in the LFC manager who won the 'treble' in 84.
not Eric Jones the accountant??
Max ,
I have friends John & Lynn Molyneux ,
My lot have been a nightmare to trace , my Mintons where mistranscibed as Winton , ( Still searching for the potteries link.)
Dupre, Stack . Tyack or Tyass. poss Brophy oh i've got a Woosnam .like the golfer ! The Dupre one is my g grandfather & he can't be found anywhere . so i'm completly stuck on that line .I thought it was an unusual name & it would be easy not the case ! My dads mate is a Riozzi , & they've done great tracing their tree . So it's the luck of the draw & being transcibed correctly helps ,
Karen
