Yeah, a really good shot that. I like candid ones of people too, more realistic.

Thanks folks
Ged, the Starbucks is at the end of Castle St. This one is Caffe Nero at 38 Castle St, which is about half way down. Don't know much about the building, but the words "Bank" is on the door. Only info I can find is that an artist called George Haydock Dogdson was born there.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello Lexy

Happy Easter to you. I am pretty sure this is a navigation marker although I have been unable to confirm that so far by googling. I'll keep looking.

Chris

Hiya Lexy, great photo mate. In my haste to post my POD last night before having a kip, I missed your post. It's called a mile marker, used as an aid for judging distances (a mile, perhaps?)

Thanks Chris and Scouserdave for identifying it for me, much appreciated

Good pic. I often wish that more of the downtown area looked like this and better still the terrace on Seymour Street at the top. The new houses uo the hill and round the corner in Russell Street that reference a few local architectural features are a bit of a let down but look great to live in.
