Default St Georges Hall

I found this glass slide on eBay, and i have to ask a few questions.

1) has anyone any idea of the date (Approx) i notice the statue of
Major General William Earle is missing (any idea when the statue was erected).

2) there is a water stain in between the glass plates, any idea if i can get
it cleaned profesionaly? ( I removed the stain using Photoshop)

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks Mal

Can i see the plinth for Earle's statue, it looks like it is there?

What is happening by the train station entrance to the left of the steps, is that some kind of stall, looks like placards against the wall.

St. Johns shows in the Lumiere Bros. movie which was made in 1897 I think.

Yes, I think it was Codman's. Don't know exactly though when they were there.

Sorry not to be able to suggest anything, but, being new to this forum, I just though it is an excellent historical photo.
These days just about an impossible shot during most of the day I imagine, with all the cats and double decker buses passing through that area now.

It looks very much like the timescale of the Lumiere Bros motion footage so i'd suggest around 1897 too.

St. John's Gardens, originally called the heath and then the cemetery to the church was laid out in 1904.
