We've got one of the biggest and best printing works in Speke which was opened a few years ago by some German group so there is no need for them to go to Oldham (I can't believe I'm writing that) It justs shows the Echo in their true colours to me,on one hand they're the voice of the people and on the other hand they constantly print negative stories which and bury the good news on page 5.This then creates a negative state of mind amongst the locals who are always moaning about our city.People here don't know how lucky they are to be from a vibrant city such as Liverpool.Good riddance to the Echo, they've now severed all ties to the city.

I,ll tell you why I will NOT be buying the Echo or the Post ever again Mr Smart A***
a) because I,ve written to you many times about my relatives who worked for you years ago, fell in love and married whilst there, AND you,ve not responded to my letters once. As I,ve been doing my family tree over the last eight years I needed that information and you could have had a story to warm the cockles of people,s hearts. b) because I told you many times that your photographs are crap and blurred around the edges or multi layered effected and you CHARGE £1 or more for the special suppliments over the years that I,d been collecting for friends overseas. c) because I,ve supported you for nine years even after moving to Cheshire and having to get the bus in all weathers to go to Chester in order that me and my family can read your papers. D) because I feel let down ONCE TOO OFTEN, e) because, IT MAKES M E feel better and standing up for me and my principles. name and address NOT supplied but you can get in touch with me here...if you dare.

I used to love reading the Echo but it certainly has deteriorated in the past year or so. |

I heard about this via ceefax last night, and have to say I feel very sad about it. I no longer live in Liverpool, but I remember we always had the Echo in the house. My parents read it from cover to cover and sometimes over again, so it was obviously a good read in those days, despite the war and the years of deprivation following.
To read that Sayers is also going is another sad bit of news. We always got our bread from Sayers and on the odd occasion we bought cakes as well. Mum was a great cake maker, but everyone needs a treat sometimes ![]() Surprising that they appear to have had sponsorship from the Echo for the Echo Arena, but if that's withdrawn then maybe a change of name will be on the cards. Such a sad situation, and definitely bad news for the local population. |
