Default 011111 cold calling from sunny Lyestererer

Been getting a load of calls from 011111 call centre, msot of them are not answered when you pick up, I am reliably informed this is their way fo testing what time you are in so when a real person phones then you'll answer.

Anyhow sunday morning got one of these calls, I was a bit pissed off over soemthing else so this poor girl at the other end got the brunt of it.

First of all I asked where she was calling from (she sounded Indian) and she said "Lyesterer", I asked her to spell it and it turned out to be Leicester, I asked her which country and she said "Capital Finance", I reminded her this wasnt a country, anyhow she admits to be phoning from India, quelle surprise, and I then angrily asked her where she has got my name and number from and that as someone on the Telephone Prefernce Service and that they were breaking the law phoning me...blah blah blah....I feel sorry for her really but I think she got the message.

The company phoning up form this seemingly non existent number are based in Leicester but use an Indian call centre, so if you get one report them now. Another tactic I used effectively on them is to just let out a blood cuerdling scream when you pick up, they soon get the message.....a whistle or megaphone is unusually useful too.

Well I've got the whole lot on MP3 and apart from all the bad language - if anyone cold calls me, I say that (asked for person) isn't in but I'm in and I'm Mr. Nasium and Jim as my first name and then try not to crease when they give me the full name....

Don't you have caller ID ?. I do and calls come up either as the number
witheld or international, I don't answer witheld or international I just let it go to my BT answer 1571. Before you ask why I don't answer witheld, I don't
agree with the with holding of numbers. If I miss a witheld call, how c an I phone em back ?.

They're probably on commission. If you have time and imagination, see how long you can keep them on the line for talking about rubbish, and then at the end say 'Oh, I wasn't actually interested, just fancied a chat...'.

Just to keep you informed - if a hospital rings out the number is withheld. It is therefore difficult to get in touch with people who either bar withheld numbers or refuse to answer them. This means writing, which can delay things, or staff go to the public phone and request that they call the hospital - conversations cannot be conducted on a public phone due to patient confidentiality. Just so as you all know - in case you are expecting a call from a hospital.

works both ways. If the hospital withholds the number and has to write
it is surely the hospitals fault that causes the delays. If the number came
up on caller ID all you do is phone back, or if using 1471 press 3.
Today I was out, but when I checked I had 8 withheld calls showing on my
caller ID display, deleted them. Eating my tea phone rang, showed withheld
I picked up and it was a firm flogging something, needless to say they got
a mouthful.

Now that I have registered with TPS I don't get these calls any more. When I did I would always ask to speak to their supervisor, when they asked why I would tell them that I thought they were not getting enough pay to receive the amount of abuse I was about to unleash down the phone!
I once had an insurance salesman hang up on me as he really wanted to speak to my other half and, with him not knowing her, I laid it on thick about her being ''of advanced years'' and bed ridden and how desperate I was for insurance so that I could get some kind of reward for looking after her.I even told him I was prepared to spend £70-90 a month for the premiums(as it was never going to be long term) If he had not with held his number I would have rung him straight back
My darling only heard one side of the conversation and was intrigued. When I told he what I had done she flew down the stairs and hit me, I said she should not be doing things like that at her age
