I've just finish the 5 disc box set of Band of Brothers, what a mini series!

Anyone seen it?

Band of Brothers is an acclaimed 10-part television World War II miniseries based on the book of the same title written by historian and biographer Stephen Ambrose. It was co-produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks after their successful collaboration on the Academy Award winning WWII film, Saving Private Ryan. The miniseries first aired in 2001 on HBO and still runs frequently on different TV networks around the world.

The miniseries centers on the experiences of E Company ("Easy Company") of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. 101st Airborne Division and one of its officers, Richard Winters (played by Damian Lewis), from Easy's basic training at Toccoa, Georgia, through the American airborne landings in Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of Bastogne and on to the end of the war.

For anyone interested, there is a successor in development called Pacific that focuses on United States involvement in the European Theater of Operations. The series has a budget of more than US$200 million.

I have owned the box set for a while now and often have another look. One of the best things to come out of the states which doesn't show "How we yanks won the war for you". To cap it all, a lot of the main actors are from the UK.

When they were in the Ardennes, I actually felt cold watching them in freezing conditions. One of the best ever.

I agree folks this is an excellent series and one I have watched over and over. The realism is excellent and the "glory of war" is shown in it's true colours. I've been looking for the Pacific but the release date isn't scheduled until 2009. If anyone gets news of it's release please give us all a heads up.
