I've noticed while going past on the 86 this week, there's something being built near to the junction of Renshaw / Leece St, where KwikFit used to be (and temporarily the Bold St fruit & veg stall). Some kind of wooden amphitheatre! No pics yet. I thought originally it might have been for La Machine, but the spider isn't going that way. So, anyone know what it's for? Normally for temporary seating they'd use pre-built stuff, but this looks very nicely made, proper joiners and everything. Ideas, anyone? |

Under Kwik Fit was where I found a small cobbled alleyway with the remnants of bricked up windows and arched doorways. I hope this ain't lost!

thanks, buggedboy. I don't think there's any heavy building work which would disturb anything underground - as far as I can see it's all wood

A few of us underground friends were boozing in The dispensary in town and got talking about our interest. They said that their cellar system felt 'hollow' as there was something underneath it. After a good lunch, we rolled outside and saw that Kwik Fit was abandoned but there was an open door at the back. We located a few man hole covers, and decided to go down one (as you do) - and found the following: Underground |

yes, I hope it's going to be permanent. Tricky to get any hard info from the official Biennial site, but I think the seating area is actually more like a stage - called Rockscape, a place "where musicians will be able to jam".

Here's one I took from the bus. A grandstand view, you could say. ![]()
