The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Gary Millar, today marked the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings by laying a wreath at the Normandy Veterans Memorial Stone in St John's gardens. Also present were the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Dame Lorna Muirhead, military representatives and several D-Day veterans and members of 'The Royal British Legion'

The Lord Mayor said: "It is an honour to be asked to lay a wreath here today" veterans and family members of those involved in the Normandy landings gathered in St Johns Gardens to pay their respects.
