It's dinnertime and Joey Barton is to be sentenced this afternoon for GBH on a fellow player. The news reporters are saying that he will get a suspended sentence. How can this be. GBH - the definition is "really serious harm". It does not just mean a good slapping, It means what it says and is one below attempted Murder. Ok, he is already in prison. So what? The reason why he is in prison is for S47 assault - one above common assault. Its all ar*e about face and I think disgraceful if this thug gets away with the serious charge.

Apparently he would only plead Guilty if he got a Suspended sentence.
So let him plead not guilty then and try him.
I'm sick and tired of deals being done in the corridor outside the courtroom.
This smacks of the guilty pulling the strings.
I would pass a bill that said should you plead not guilty and then found to be guilty - the sentence would be doubled or some kind of retribution for the court case costs.
A sentence of x number of years would mean x number of years - good behaviour would be expected and rewarded only by it not being increased for bad behaviour.

Yes, it seems the charge has been reduced to S47 Assault occassioning actual bodilly harm. Still an imprisonable offence though but he has walked. Nothing short of scandalous! Lets hope Kevin Keegan and co do the honourable thing and sack the thug.
Afraid not.

As Mae West said:
He's no good.
He always was no good.
He always will be no good.
His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork.

He did, a 4 month suspended sentence.
Yet again well known celebs get away with it. If it had been a
normal person, 6 months inside.
He is to have talks with Kevin Keegan and if he says he is a reformed
character, back in the 1st team. He should be sacked

I find it disgusting that icliverpool website now put CCTV images of things that they tell the story about. Who wants to see someone getting 7 shades of s*it kicked out of him?
What good will it do apart from attract 'hits'?
