The Storrsdale

and came accross a photo of the storrsdale which i used to use in the sixties. it had a different name then although everyone called it the storrsdale. can anyone remember what it was called ?

Storrsdale or Storesdale? Is it on a road leading off Mather Avenue? If so, I occasionally used it in the late 60's when fed up with the Rose, on Rose Lane.

On the same page of photos is the Inglenook, at the Dingle end of Ullet Road. When I drank in the Grapes in Aigburth - mid 60's and long gone - we'd head to the Inglenook on a Friday night for a couple of pints of Carling Black Label - it was the only pub we knew which sold lager at that time. Who'd have guessed the way in which lager would spread across all pubs?

thats the one, but it wasn't really called the storrsdale; i think it might have been the something Abbey. back in the late 60s tetley revamped all their pub signs and i remember the new sign had the other name on it

Don't remember the actual name being other than Storesdale, but seem to remember people calling it Flinn's or Quinn's - but memory may be playing tricks.

I think it was the Barkhill. Storrsdale Rd was originally planned as an extension of Barkhill Rd with a road bridge over the railway line. This never happened but the pub kept the name Barkhill, later changed to Storrsdalle

I've not long discovered this pub as it's a bit of a walk to get there but, it is well worth it for a pint of hand pulled Tim Taylor's Landlord

...is my brother-in-law's pub.

Every time I go there I admire the water tank in the men's WC. It's the old traditional overhead style with a logo on it saying it's made in Liverpool.

If I could get my hands on it I would remodel my bathroom to make it fit...:)

It must take some effort to keep all that copper pipework gleaming like that, it's a good indication that care and pride is being taken in the place.
