Great pictures, took me back to my childhood days when us kids were kept in on Orange Lodge day because there were always loads of fights! If I remember rightly, it was Lodge day on 12th July and have to admit the parades were a sight to see with the bands and everyone dressed in their finery...shame we could only watch from the bedroom window, so it all depended on whether the parade passed down our street or not!
Happy days :)

The march went from Gardners drive, Newsham park, across to Molyneux rd, then made it's way up towards Farnworth st and over to Everton rd where it ended up at the Orange lodge club.

Great pics there! Its always good to see people taking pride in what they believe in!

Somewhat shamefully, I never knew Liverpool had a Orange Lodge March until I saw Mr Sayles TV programme!

Wallasey ! we have a huge march which comes up from Lime st, up London rd every year 12th July. (the Lodges returning from their annual gathering at Southport).
There are various smaller walks throughout the year.

It has been going on since the days of yore !

I wish they would all march back to Ireland were it originated and stay there. The deep meaning under the bands I find distasteful. About time all this dissolved away into history.

I remember when there would be lorries all decorated up and the bands would converge at Newsham Park and spend the day there. I think it was on Whit Monday.

On the 12th July our School would be empty, everyone would be gathered along Netherfield Road to see the bands off!

I am from the South End where it wasn't so strong. I recall as a 16 year old we met some girls from around Netherfield Rd. They invited us to their way. We were confused and thought them silly as they were constantly on about Papes and other things we knew nothing about. We asked what they were on about. Then they told us. We thought they were daft and odd. We never saw them again.
