I read a few blogs on a regular basis such as Dreaming Neon Black (http://dreaming-neon-black.blogspot.com/); Hilary Burrage (http://www.hilaryburrage.com/); and Liverpool subCulture (http://liverpoolsubculture.blogspot.com/).

Anybody recommend any other blogs with content of local interest that are worth checking out?

This is a blog I can recommend - Liverpool Times (http://www.liverpooltimes.net/). From the same fellow who used to write the Kirkby Times blog.

Thanks A.D.W - I used to read the old Kirkby Times blog.

People call me 'right-wing', and worse, and Liverpool Times is 'left-wing', but there are alot of cracking articles on the above blog. They echo my thoughts and opinions many a time!

One should read widely A.D.W. I occasionally read the Merseyside British National Party (http://merseysidebnp.blogspot.com/) blog and, believe it or not, don't disagree with everything they have to say there.

It is a fact that Stalinists and Fascists have much in common. A pact of steel perhaps?

Care to back that up with some facts, Libertarian?

It is true that, unlike Libertarianism, neither Fascism nor Stalinism advocate the elimination of the state - not much else in common though! :slywink:

Are they not both forms of totalitarianism? :disgust:

I note the dislike that some people have for authoritarianism of whatever degree. It is true that the creation of states is fundamentally about the transfer of violence from the individual but there are people who would rather see guns in the hands of police than in the hands of children and would argue that liberal democracies are far from perfect, (see, for example, the Britain's Got Problems thread here (http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1293)).

PS Can anybody recommend any decent local blogs? :)

For those of you who are concerned about citizens' rights and civil liberties I've found this local blog:

Rights and Wrongs (http://www.rightsandwrongsuk.blogspot.com/) - Stories about social policy, civil liberties, political activism, and citizens' rights from north of england-based activists and citizens' advocates working in the voluntary sector.

AS you read this I’ll be in sunny/muddy/rainy* Glastonbury, covering all the Liverpool bands playing the festival.

I’ll be sending back a column for tomorrow’s paper, plus a full round up in Monday’s ECHO, as well as a video diary and regular updates to my blog here (http://musicblog.merseyblogs.co.uk/).

If there’s anything you’d like me to cover, send me a comment over to my blog and I’ll do my best.
