Oops. You're quite right. Posting pictures too late at night after a drink or two was to blame...

Now of that I'm not entirely sure but the Avondale Cafe was certainly on the Wirral coast somewhere, possibly in the New Brighton area... Dammit, I've temporarily (?) lost the scrap of paper with the details that were sent to me... (must get the finger out re my filing).
During the course of trying to find anything on the web, I came across an extremely detailed site by Mike Kemble about Moreton- a great read for anyone who knows the area...
http://www.mikekemble.com/mside/moreton.html
- and also (not relevant but funny) the website of a posh Aussie eating place whose name, I'm sure you'll agree, just oozes sophistication and high living- 'Cafe Birkenhead'...

That's the bottom of Victoria Road in New Brighton. Opposite where the Chelsea Reach was. Not there now.

Chester to B'head road at Rock Ferry 1954
Think photo captioned Chester to Birkenhead Rd at Rock Ferry is actually New Ferry, not Rock Ferry, but thanks for putting up all these old pics.

Thanks chaps for the info. I have amended the captions accordingly (and got rid of the Liverpool tram).

Yes great to see old photographs -- I especially like the Hamilton Street one with the glimpse of the Liver Buildings in the distance. Also pleased to see people on here are helping you with information. :handclap:
I know, you just included the one with the Liverpool tram to test us, didn't you? :unibrow:
