Those were brilliant..especially the Woolwooths peek-a-boo above the clouds.. Wonderful that some artistic photographers skills have lived on to keep us up on History...

I just finished doing those type hairdoes for a Movie that took place in the 1890s.. Yes, it seems like the men were always about town, while mostly only the artistocratic wives went shopping..

Wouldn't you swear without looking at where they were taken from (i.e. you didn't know the location), at a glance, you'd say that the 1st picture was St Nick's Pier Head and the 3rd picture was showing St Luke's Bold Place on the right.

Excellent pictures!

Excellent pics. It is a great shame they demolished the Singer building, looks like something out of Citizen Kane.
