Just read this in the Echo.
I can't believe how much money these people are getting when we have pensioners, one parent families etc struggling to make ends meet.
I have also been informed that the dhss will give money to these immigrants for a car as they cannot read street signs so it stops them getting lost??
Unbelievable!!
Benefits’ fraudster leaves the country
Mar 28 2008 by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo

AN IRANIAN asylum seeker who claimed £25,000 of benefits, despite hiding £500,000 in a separate bank account, has left the country.

Massoud Montazery, 29, secretly accumulated a huge haul of money while pretending he was penniless with no means of income.

In January, the ECHO revealed how he was exposed as details of his lavish lifestyle – with top-of-the-range cars and designer clothes – emerged.

But it could not be proven that Montazery had any recoverable assets, despite his fortune, and he was ordered to pay a nominal £1.

The process of deporting him was underway but a decision had not been rubber-stamped by the authorities.

Now, it has emerged that Montazery who lived in St Mary’s Road, Walton, has left the UK without telling immigration officials.

Checks have recently been made at Manchester Airport which show that Montazery boarded a flight at the start of March.

It is believed he left with his wife and another member of his immediate family, destination unknown.

Today, politicians welcomed Montazery’s departure.

Liverpool MP Peter Kilfoyle said: “This man abused the system and he should be held to account.

“He took money from the taxpayer and gave rise to the misrepresentation that all people on benefits are feckless and dishonest.

“I’m surprised that under the Proceeds of Crime Act they couldn’t seize more of what this man had obtained illegally.

“But if there is a loophole, it should be closed, and lawyers who exploit that situation should be looked at.”

Montazery was given thousands of pounds which paid for his Liverpool home, gas, electricity, water and council tax.

He made repeated denials to immigration officials about having a bank account, but his considerable finances and job at a baby equipment firm in Liverpool was soon revealed.

It's the same as these gangsters - worth a bloody fortune with their big houses and tinted window cars - - some of them are claiming benefits at Giro drop addresses

Best explained like this...........

Meet Jo'
He lives with his girl friend who, is herself claiming single parent benefit and declares that she lives 'alone'
He’s (Jo') got a council flat in a high rise that he uses as a ‘giro drop’ and which he visits a couple of times a week to pick up the post. His rent and CT is paid for in full because he’s claiming benefits and has no other income. His utilities (Gas/Electricity) are on token meters and he’s hardly ever at the flat anyway the cost in negligible and water rates are paid in with his rent.

So maybe it costs him £10 every couple of months to keep the utilities on his flat, but he’s getting nearly £60 a week on the dole - and that’s if he’s not subletting the flat to his mates for them to use as a giro drop as well.

Hope that helps.
Should also note that these drop flats also escape the empty house statistics as they are officially occupied.!

That's how it works

there are lots of 'empty' house like that.

.. and gangsters - there was one in the news not so long ago - having a council rented place and claiming benefits - and yet also had a palatial house and gardens along with a big car, etc. Pathetic really - they are loaded with their ill-gotten gains, yet take the trouble to claim as well.

I agree SteH and Kev. They are getting one over on the system and taking the mock out of tax payers. Wish the lot would get caught, i'd love to see a mass capture, although they'd only get a slap on the wrists.
