He was a fun guy deffo, the type that would have u in stitches at weddings and funerals. :disgust:

There's a bit of him in my youngest lad I reckon.

When he died [of a stroke], the bobbies from the Garston Police Station stood on the corners of the roads that led up to The Crem in Springwood as a mark of respect.

I went to a moving service when I was back in the mod. It was out in the sticks somewhere at a quaint little church and it was an ex soldier colleague. The regiment was there and they played the last post and the buddies carried the coffin to the altar and out again. There was something really spooky in many peoples hearts that moment.

Dont ask about the cravat, I have no idea why he wore it? I still have it in my house.
This photo was taken at his 60th Birthday party in his favourite boozer, The Vauxhall Vaults.

always a great laugh, Happy birthday Dad.

Hi Ged

My Nan and Grandad lived in St Martins cottages when they married. My dad was born there. When my grandad was killed in ww2 my dad and his mam moved in with her mum in Kew street, Near St Anthony`s church.

My dad went to St Anthonys school until he was 12. Then he moved to the Dingle in King Gardens.

My great Grandma who had lived near St Joeys, moved to Silvester street and lived there until she died in 1978 aged 94. many others in the area too.

This is me mam in the Fantail pub in Kirkby selling the remains of the fruit which they had left over from their handcart in Great Homer St on saturday
which stood outside The Lamplighter pub. She only started as second girl on
the handcart when she retired from work at 65. this job lasted for quite a few years before her mate retired. Hannah and me mam Polly were quite well known in Greaty.

My Great Nan. She lived to the ripe old age of 92 and we used to journey to Kirkby once a week as that's where they put lots of the overspill outside Liverpool.

She then came closer to home to a nursing home in Huyton and I remember her very well.

My Brother Ged passed away suddenly at the age of 48 on the 7th March 2008 ( 3 weeks ago ).
A friend of the family created this video which I have put on Youtube.
He was a great Husband, Father, Brother and uncle.
He left behind a wife, 2 children and 2 foster children.
He was a gentleman in every sense of the word.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. He must have been a great guy judging by your description of him as being a great husband, father and uncle, and to have fostered 2 children as well.

Arr what a shame Mandy, didn't your mum and dad depart us so young, your mum looks very pretty. What year was their wedding, I won't ask if you're at the front there :)

That pic isn't Egypt then I take it :)

I'll hazard a guess for Formby for the one below though :)

Thanks for looking at my brother Ged's video on Youtube and the kind thoughts.
Although this is a sad thread ( and I don't mean sad as in rubbish ! ),
photo's help bring back memories.

All the photo's on this thread mean a lot to those closest to them and it helps to remember close one's lives and how lucky we are to have shared it with them.

Mandy, Ged, John, Nightowl and Greg's Dad ( sorry if I missed anyone out ), great pics. :PDT_Piratz_26:

The Sphinx is in London, on The Thames Embankment. It gaurds Cleopatra's Needle, opposite the London Eye. There is a photo HERE (http://tinyurl.com/5nh2vz) that I found on Google. It is definitely the same one. You can see the damage on the plinth. I also found THIS (http://tinyurl.com/49q6pq) on Wikipedia

My great grandmother with my grandad on her knee. He was later to die in the Canada Dock on the White Star Line ship S S Doric in 1926.
She was born in Ireland 1852 and died in Liverpool 1902. I worked out the pic must have been taken 1875.

This is from the Liverpool Echo ,an inquest of grandad`s death.
Notice how they have spelt Reading St, all of us who lived in the street and people who lived in the Kirkdale area always pronounced it as reading a book
but posh people and teachers always told us it was pronounced as redding

interesting thread, got a few old pics I can scan in for it.

this is from a local paper November 1912, no idea which one, talking about my gtgt grandad.(no confirmed photo of him sadly)
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/quincyg/Scan10036.jpg

he was taken over the road to the David Lewis Hospital where he died. spookily some years later his son and grandson would be working in Pall Mall corpy yard (from which they could see the old hospital) and the street opposite the hospital?...Roberts St!
