did a search and couldn't find it mentioned. great little cobbled street, off Fazakerley St with interesting grids

There are still a few streets around that have 'setts'. But not many.
A great little street that we used to cut down when staggering from the Mayflower pub in Fazakerley street to the Tradewinds bar in the Atlantic Tower hotel in the early/mid 80s. They are true cobbles until just in front of the car - then setts. There are wooden setts just in front of the old Bishop Goss junior school off Grosvenor Street. These were unearthed after surface tarmac had eroded.

I see what you mean now Shy. The difference between sets and cobbles. I thought 'sets' was just a slang word for cobbles .. now I see that they are actually different.
