Can you buy a cd recorder (if thats what its called) to plug into a laptop to save/backup all my stuff. I don't really know how to do this but as I've just lost all my in/out box it reminds me how I need to back stuff up. My laptop doesn't have a backup facility I don't think.
Thanks.

Try scan computers they do a great one for £38.06

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=690282

it's a DVD writer so youll be able to save a lot more data on it.

PS post details of your laptop and i might be able to tell you whether you can write cd's anyway.

Hi Drone thanks for the reply its a
Dell Latitude to be honest it was a made up one from somebody I kind of know so not directly from Dell. I asked at PC world and they where not that helpful saying not all dvd writers fit all computers so didn't want to order something that may not work.
Thanks for the link though.

Try a smallish (80GB) usb hard drive. It will give you plenty of room.

For family photos and other stuff you really don't want to lose, back up immediately to your external hard drive and when you've got enough together, burn it to CD or DVD. Just to be sure- external hard drives can break too...

External burners and hard drives are easy to install. Just ensure that they're compatible with your version of Windoze. It'll say on the box. Macs will recognise such devices straight out of the box.

Decent modern PCs/Macs have burning built right in.
