I try to sit and get ready to watch Ireland pull on those green shirts to take on the Welsh team today in a very important game but there is this butterfly in my stomach that just has me running out and into the fridge to make sure the cans are suitably chilled and then to the loo just one more time to make sure there are no trips necessary when the game starts. I fidgit and futter making sure the TV is at the perfect angle to ensure no sunlight can dare interfere with the perfect picture.
The boys have just arrived and taken up their selected seat making sure they can comfortably reach the table by each chair with the all important nibbles and dips carefully placed to keep us munching and stop us swallowing our tongue as each crunching tackle goes in today.
The uniform green shirts on every viewer, check, everyone seated before the singing starts, check, food and drink in position, check, bladders empty, check, TV reception, checked, all mobile phones turned off, check, spare TV in position and ready should there be a catastrophic failure of the big screen, check.
There's the start of the singing with the Fields of Athenry ringing across the hallowed stands in Croac Park. Well at least today we are p[laying a great team that have brought the best singers in the Six Nations with them, well second best singers.
Oh these butterflies must be the result of some Welsh magic potion.
I sure hope that the team playing in the green shirts are as well prepared as we are in the house.
