found these whilst rummaging through a box of old photos. my dad had borrowed a very basic camera from someone and took a few pix. most didn't come out. no idea of the year, certainly mid to late 1970's. I remember being rather excited to see the Michelin man. it was a great day out and probably sparked my interest in old transport.
these bring back a wealth of happy memories for me, plus a tear as it makes me realise how much I still miss my dad.

Rob,
Did you ever find these pics of the Edge Lane Event?
It took place on Saturday 29th September 1979. ( I was 9 at the time).
I had my first 'drive' of a bus there ... a two door Bristol VR.
Love the pics Quincy.
Watch out for DVL442 !!

I remember this event quite well.
Was it really 30 years ago? - Good grief I was only 19 then and a student.
I have always had an interest in transport and always wanted to get inside the Edge Lane tramworks after reading a facsimile of the book published when the building was constructed in the 1920s.
Such a shame it did not survive - it would have made an excellent transport museum and with much of the tram track remaining in the grounds - plenty of scope for running restored trams.
What a waste!
John
