I woke this morning with the brightness of the sun streaming in the bedroom window reminding me of the strange light of North Africa. It was great to lay under the duvet snuggled up and so warm and comfortable thinking of what needed to be done during the day ahead. Then I moved my head onto the crisp coldness of the cotton pillowcase and I realised I wasn't in Africa.
When I felt brave enough I threw back the duvet and jumped up to see what outside looked like. I peeked through the vertical blinds and the brightness made me blink back as it stung my eyes. The ground looked to have been dusted by natures icing sugar. Just a thin delicate layer covering everything in sight making it difficult to distinguish the various things that didn't get brought in by their owners last night.
The air feels like daggers as I open the window and suck in the icy blast to my lungs that scream in protest and try to cough it back out again. The clear blue sky has just the faintest hint of wispy goats hairs strung across it and there is a hint of what looks like dandruff floating gently down and adding itself to the white layer already on the ground. It's going to be fun getting the car thawed out and going for a drive shortly.
That dandruff looks slippy.
