Well the old saying is that if March comes in like a lion then it goes out like a lamb. Well there must be a very big flock of pregnant sheep due to give birth shortly on a hill near here.
This past few days the wind and rain has made doing anything outside very uncomfortable if not impossible. Trees that have stood for generations have been unrooted by the combination of the heavy rain making the ground soft and almost jelly like in readiness for the second line of attack. When the gales have whipped in from the West the roots in these aged vetrans of many storms have had nothing to hold onto. Their roots gripped the soft soil and like trying to get a grip in a bowl of jelly there was nothing for them to hold onto.
Why is it that it's always on a night like this that you always get a flat tyre and the jack for your car fails to work for you as your heart pounds as if you have just run a marathon.
I'm looking forward to the end of March and a big healthy portion of thick Irish stew made with glorious new season lamb.
Plenty of lamb.
