I have had enough now, have just received my tiscali broadband and to be honest it's getting on my nerves. the modem (black box!) is a siemens speedstream 4100 and had 5 little green lights only 3 are working. The one marked internet is not all though I am able to use the internet and the phone, so my question is could I be using broadband and still be charged lots of money as it may not be on the tiscali package I signed up with how could I check? Please don't suggest going to customer support as it appears they are in India and have a manual to follow with a 'that's fine thank you' no matter what is said. Ready to throw the dam computer out of the window. Not sure this makes sense but I feel so much better getting this off my chest so don't worry if you have the answer. I am beginning to think this was a bad idea but it's too late to back out now.
Thanks in anticipation.
Kathy

What I would do is phone them.Say its been off for 3 months when you get through and ask for it to be repaired.
I could tell you how to avoid the bill but.....maybe one day!:handclap:

You could try a Speedcheck at http://www.speedtest.net/
here is a test i just done, im on Telewest 2mb and as you can see below my speed is 2081 Which is slightly over 2mb. This should give you an idea of what service you are getting, i.e. 512kbps/1mb/2mb/10mb/20mb

Must be other online checks you can do, if ye have a search around.
A Telewest engineer suggested i download and run this very small program "TCPOptimizer" it tweaks yer connection and i reccomend everyone to use it, and it is very easy to use.

My suggestion would be to reinstall the software that comes with it, if you go into the help section on their webpage there are lots of help sections. or google the modem.
The other suggestion is to check your account to ensure you are signed up for what you believe you you are getting.
You can email the customer service dept and they do email back and respond to your complaints, or you can ring, I ring if I get india, out phone down eventually I get through to scotland (they have three call centres in scotland) its worth doing this as you get a good service from scotland. Also argue the case with the customer service dept and you will get reimbursed usually they debit your account, but you can demand they send you a cheque and they will.
Sinec Aug last year I have became abit of an expert deailing with Tiscali and have recieved over £150 back.
