Wonderful ,I wallowed in the images of my old home,I'll go to bed tonight with the sights and sounds of the 'Pool filling my conscienous,
Anyway, I have a question for all you true Liverpool children........whatever happened to the Back Entry Diddlers. They gave us great enjoyment in the very early 50's,as did Curly Wee and Gussie Goose, has anyone got an idea where I can get a copy of an old album ,or some facsimile comic strips?
And, and this is a big and, where did the names of Dicky Mint,Tilly Mint and Mickey Drippin' originate. Forget Ken Dodd, the nicknames were in use when I was a kid 60 or more years ago...........................Anyone out there got a clue?
Goodnight now,
BrianD
I loved watching, that, sometimes I look at videos like that and resent the fact I wasnt around at that time, just because of how straight forward and uncomplicated life was. Modern living has its advantages but it can be a right pain in the backside sometimes
Great video! I just stumbled on that video today and noticed a pub called the Masonic Arms. Me dad use to play in a band called, The Negitaves in the early 60's in that pub, if thats the same one on Berry street.
I posted a picture of me dad in the band in another thread here:

Here's a screen capture of the Masonic Arms pub here:

Hiya Rone. That's a different Masonic Arms that was up in Everton. The other Masonic is in the middle of a block on Berry Street and can be found here, a third of the way down on the extreme right.

Also here in its present guise (4th line up from the bottom)

Some of the houses are little more than slums..yet...many expensive cars outside houses: Vauxhall Crestas, Mercedes Benz, Ford Zephyrs, etc.

That quick scene really took me back! The Masonic in the video was at the corner of Lodge Lane and River Avon St. I used to live at 28 River Avon till moving to Canada in '66. I had a friend, David Webster who lived at 1 River Avon which is just out of sight in the video clip.
Great video, thanks!
