As I look at the hill now that the sun has slipped slowly to bed for the night the powder blue sky with not a hint of a cloud in it now seems to be blushing. From behind the crest there's an amber glow reaching high piercing the blue. But doing it so gently I don't think the blue sky even knows she is being painted. The artist using his brush strokes with the care of a brain surgeon. Every single movement perfect.

The air has seen her baby blue being caressed and in protest has refused to stay warm. The huff she is displaying sends a chill down my neck as I pull down the sleeves of my rugby shirt to cover the goosebumps that have appeared on my forearms.

It'll not be long before Jack Frost seizes the opportunity to run rampant over the darkening ground dropping his crystals of ice to attack the vulnerable and lay slippery traps for the foolish walker. He'll make the driver who dares to sleep in tonight regret those extra few minutes in bed when they come out to find their bright red car now coated in powdery white ice making sure they are late for work.

I think it's time to get that central heating to roar and scare away Jack from our shelter.
