What a lame effort of a logo for a company called Liverpool vision, looks more like a NHS logo.

Liverpool is the city most ?on the way up?

Liverpool is now perceived to be the city most ?on the way up? in the United Kingdom, according to major new research released by Liverpool Vision.

The research reveals that Liverpool is no longer perceived to be part of the ?North?, and instead is seen as a unique location in its own right, alongside places like Edinburgh and York, with a distinct identity.

It was also found that people from outside the city, when asked to describe Liverpool, refer to its heritage and recent big investment, as well as mentioning passion and spirit, football and The Beatles.
Negative associations like the Militant Tendency, poor industrial relations, and unemployment are on the wane.

Of those questioned, via focus groups and online interviews, 57% saw Liverpool as a city on the way up, compared to 40% for Manchester, and only 22% for London. Only 12% said Liverpool was on the way down.

The research, undertaken by Brand Vista and commissioned by Liverpoool Vision, has helped the development of a new brand and logo for the city until 2024 which will be launched on March 26.
Using the springboard of a highly successful Capital of Culture year, this new vision is designed to take the city forward over the next 15 years and is led by Liverpool First, a public/private sector partnership.

Mike Taylor, director of investment and enterprise for Liverpool Vision, said: ?The research is compelling, it is telling us that perceptions of Liverpool have changed and are improving and that the city is emerging from this image of the 'North'. We are increasingly being seen as dynamic and creative and there is no doubt that the success of 08 has given us a great platform for moving to another level, both as a visitor destination and as a city in which business can be done. The sense that something is stirring is so important because it gets us on the map.

?We now have an excellent opportunity to have a distinct brand and offer and there is a growing sense of understanding that the goal has to be the creation of new jobs and increased productivity in existing businesses and that will enable us to do the rest (tackle inequality and poverty).

Detailed discussion also took place with key sectors in Liverpool during the brand's development, while a variety of logos have also been tested locally and nationally.

Mike Taylor hopes that it will be embraced by all residents and businesses in Liverpool: ?I hope every business and school has it on its letterhead, that taxi drivers have it in their window, especially as the new logo will be freely available for all to use.?

Well I hope the new logo for the city is better than the 08 or Liverpool Vision logos
