She's that lady we all look up to
We listen to her every word
Wisdom she passes onto us
Her experience unsurpassed
Her generation are nearly gone now
Most class mates long since dead
The years they've worn her sorely
Hard work has taken it's toll
Will we ever meet her equal
No matter where we go
She gave life to her children
Thank God she seen us grow
My Queen she don't wear jewels
She don't own a lot of land
The government don't listen to her
She's never saluted any band
My Mum is the one and only
My Queen, my love who gave me life
Let's pray my children think as much
Of myself and my dear wife

Asa confirmed republican I couldn't give a toss about monarchy. Fairy Tales - at cost a fortune and hold us back.

Read it again, it isn't about HM Liz 2.
Nice poem Gerry.

Thanks Shytalk. It's amazing how some people can read a piece I wrote and totally miss what or who it's all about. Maybe my writings too vague for some, but that's my style and it won't change.

I am still a confirmed republican....
Whats that got to do with the above poem. Its not anything to do with the Queen or Royal family.

Take no notice of Waterways, he has to have the last word just like a kid and he could cause a riot in an empty house, He has been a fixture here for a long time and does have a great knowledge of the docks,:handclap:

I think Mother's Day in the UK is 2nd March.
By the way my Queen was admitted to hospital today so send a positive thought her way for me if you can.

Gerry, how lovely was your poem. How often do we NOT express such thoughts but feel them about those we love. I was absolutely chuffed to read that. Made my night. I often write poems for my beloved but dont often show them to him because, although he comes from a family who have been taught not to show emotion, they make him cry (because they **** everton off; no they dont, that was just mischief!!!!)
With regard to the other folk mentioned who are not too well I will light a candle for them tomorrow. Doesnt matter what religion any of us are, its just a wish for someone to get a bit better.
