Heard an old song I love on the radio this morning - but it does have odd lyrics. Won't identify the song as I'll bet loads will spot it straight away.

'Someone left the cake out in the rain and I don't think that I can take, because it took so long to bake it, and I'll never have that recipe again, oh nooooo'.

Just what was he on when he wrote that?
:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Anyway, can anyone else come up with anything as weird?

The lyrics you have quoted are from "MacArthur Park," which was a hit for the late actor Richard Harris in 1968. The song is by prolific American songwriter Jimmy Webb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Webb) and is regarded as one of the seminal records of the Flower Power era, thus explaining the psychedelic-tinged lyrics. MacArthur Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacArthur_Park) is in Los Angeles, California, and is named after General Douglas MacArthur.

All the best

Chris

Lindy, that was 'Feel it' by Tamperer.

You got it on the side
A little one night thing
I thought it over and this time I will forgive you
Well I'm not letting go
But don't forget I know
You made your bed and she was in it, no no no

What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?

Well I'm not blaming you
But she's still hanging around
And she's so crazy, tell ya now I just don't trust her
She thinks she's right on time
But I think she crossed the line
And I'm ready for the ride, I'm ready if it's fighting time

What she's gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?

Heard the tail end of a song and spent years tracking it down - Google was finally created and came to the rescue - because I was fascinated with the lyrics.

I knew it was Willy Nelson - no mistaking that voice - but that was all.

It was something like 'you can't blame a man for shooting a woman, when she's trying to steal his horse'. Obviously, a story worth hearing!

Eventually discovered it was The Red Headed Stranger.
