Yes, it's very pleasant even though (or perhaps because) nothing much happens.

The wonderful thing about this story is that it reminds you of that which is lost and can never be recovered...................innocence.This tale takes place just three generations ago (if you are my age ) at a time before mass communications and political correctness ,a time when everyone was supposed to know their place and the Gentry ruled supreme. It was also a time of great change ,when liberal thinking encouraged ordinary men and women to become educated and to think for themselves . The drama is beautifully cast and each character is meant to display the changes that were taking place at that time . The honest yeoman refusing to let his children tug their forelocks to their " betters" ,the old vicar trying to hold on to old values and the young assistant postmistress ,watching the changes and recording the drama as it unfolds. Nothing much happens, except an old order changes and a new world is given birth . This is a chronicle of ancient sunlight,a marvellous story to be viewed at many different levels .
I look forward to Sunday evenings as never before ,

I watched the first episode and was very impressed by the fact that there was no 'Modern Speak', to me, otherwise excellent series have been spoiled by language being used that was after the time it was set. :handclap:

I'm downloading episode 4 at the moment, I have really enjoyed the first 3.
I did notice that the blacksmith was using the wrong kind of hammer though. Am I too picky?. :)
